Local Lightning strikes

My lightning detector has now (14/2/09) been moved to the bottom of the garden so (hopefully) should show less background counts. Whether the range will be affected as it now has a slightly shorter antenna, and it's sited lower, remains to be seen.

Hobby Boards say that their 1 Wire Lightning Detector can detect lightning strikes more then 50 miles away, but I've found that lightning even 100 miles away is shown by increased frequency of counts!!

The red ring is 50 miles, the green ring is 75 miles, blue ring is 100 miles.
